JA Company Program meets the after-school programming needs of a diverse group of students by providing engaging, academically challenging, and experiential learning sessions in economic education.

JA More than Money

JA More than Money introduces third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students to financial literacy and entrepreneurship and to social studies learning objectives that include money-management, goods and services, and global markets. Through hands-on activities and a JA cast of characters serving as symbols for financial literacy and entrepreneurship concepts, students will learn a practical approach to starting a business and making smart decisions about managing money.

JA Our Families

JA Our Families introduces students to learning objectives for first-grade social studies, including families, neighborhoods, money, and needs and wants. Through hands-on classroom activities, students also explore the concept of entrepreneurship, specifically the ways in which businesses provide goods, services, and jobs for families. JA Our Families is volunteer-taught and kit-based with additional extended learning activities and optional digital assets offered throughout.

JA Our Nation provides practical information about the need for employees who can meet the demands of the 21st century job market, particularly high-growth, high-demand jobs. JA Ourselves introduces kindergarten students to the intersection of financial literacy and early elementary grades social studies learning objectives. Through hands-on classroom activities, the program provides students with an introduction to personal economics and the choices consumers make to meet their needs and wants. It also introduces students to the role of money in society while providing them with practical information about earning, saving, and sharing money. JA Ourselves is volunteer-taught and kit-based.

Those skills include knowing customers' wants and needs, launching effective marketing, and creating detailed business plans. JA Be Entrepreneurial introduces students to the essential components of a practical business plan, and challenges them to start an entrepreneurial venture while still in high school.

JA Career Success equips students with the knowledge required to get and keep a job in high-growth industries. Students will explore the crucial workplace skills employers seek but often find lacking in young employees. JA Personal Finance

JA Personal Finance focuses on: earning money; spending money wisely through budgeting; saving and investing money; using credit cautiously; and protecting one’s personal finances.

Enterprise in Action

JA Enterprise in Action helps students understand the principal characteristics of the U.S. economic system and the role of business in it. The activities reinforce economic concepts taught in U.S. history, state history, and civics courses. Students learn the steps in organizing a business and producing and marketing a product. They also study the social responsibilities of business and the role of government in the U.S. economy.

JA Enterprise in Action begins with the students examining their role as consumers. The students need to see that their choices drive what goods and services businesses produce and how they produce them. With this background, the students are ready to explore how businesses are formed. They discover how the U.S. economic system’s foundations of private property, competition, and the price system affect business operations. They also learn that businesses add marketable value to their goods and services in an effort to make a profit, which is their incentive for doing business. The students also see how social responsibility affects businesses, and they learn the role of government in our economy. Indeed, JA Enterprise in Action is about how businesses interact with individuals (households) and government in a circular flow of money, goods, services, and labor that comprise the U.S. free enterprise or market system.


JA Innovation Camp High

At the Innovation Camp (sometimes also called Innovation Challenge, 24-hour Camp etc.) students gather in order to address a specific business challenge to come up with ideas which would solve the problem.

JA Job Shadow

JA Job Shadow prepares students to be entrepreneurial thinkers in their approach to work. In-class sessions prepare students for a visit to a professional work environment, where they will face a series of challenges administered by their workplace hosts. Students learn how to research career opportunities and the skills needed to land and keep their dream job.

JA More than Money teaches students about earning, spending, sharing, and saving money. It also identifies businesses that students can start or jobs they can perform to earn money. Students play a game to learn money-management skills and to better understand the role and importance of money in their lives.

JA Careers with a Purpose

Through hands-on classroom activities JA Careers with a Purpose introduces students to the importance of seeking careers that help them realize their life potential and noble purpose. The program demonstrates the importance of positive values, life maxims, and ethical decision-making within the context of career and life decisions.

Following participation in the program, students will be able to:

  • Use ethical decision-making skills to make career and life decisions.
  • Describe possible career choices in terms of their individual noble purpose.

Head Start

Head Start meets the needs of a diverse group of students by providing engaging, academically enriching, and experiential learning sessions in work-readiness education and career perspectives.

Following are the sessions of the program:

Session 1: Writing Your Resume 

This module covers résumé writing. It includes tips on writing a powerful cover letter and a powerful résumé. It also includes tips on tackling résumé problems.

Session 2: Interviewing 

This session introduces participants to the science and art of interviewing. Through a series of exercises, participants will become knowledgable of the major skills and behaviors associated with successful interviewing. Participants will find that such skills are key to giving a lasting first impression that will significantly increase their hiring potential in today’s increasingly competitive job market.

Session 3: The Internship 

This session introduces participants to internships, what they mean, how to prepare well for a good internship, and how to handle work duties in an internship. The session invites participants to choose internships that are not only rewarding in the short-run but that also fit their long-term career objectives.
