JA Career Success
JA Career Success equips students with the knowledge required to get and keep a job in high-growth industries. Students will explore the crucial workplace skills employers seek but often find lacking in young employees. Students also will learn about valuable tools to find that perfect job, including resumes, cover letters, and interviewing techniques.
JA Economics reinforces concepts of micro- and macro-economics by having students explore the basic characteristics of the U.S. economic system and how economic principles influence business decisions.
The program also introduces students to career opportunities and consumer issues, and reinforces important academic and leadership skills.
JA Exploring Economics
JA Exploring Economics fosters lifelong skills and knowledge about how an economy works, including micro-, macro-, personal, and international economics
JA Finance Park
JA Finance Park is a month-long program that introduces students to personal financial planning and career exploration. At the culmination of this teacher-led program, students visit JA Finance Park, a realistic on-site or virtual community, to put into practice what they've learned by developing and committing to a personal budget.
JA BizTown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular program allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. The program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.
Economics of Staying in School
The Economics of Staying in School comprises several activities to help students understand the cost of leaving school early and the benefits of obtaining an education.
Enterprise in Action
JA Enterprise in Action helps students understand the principal characteristics of the U.S. economic system and the role of business in it. The activities reinforce economic concepts taught in U.S. history, state history, and civics courses. Students learn the steps in organizing a business and producing and marketing a product. They also study the social responsibilities of business and the role of government in the U.S. economy.
JA Enterprise in Action begins with the students examining their role as consumers. The students need to see that their choices drive what goods and services businesses produce and how they produce them. With this background, the students are ready to explore how businesses are formed. They discover how the U.S. economic system’s foundations of private property, competition, and the price system affect business operations. They also learn that businesses add marketable value to their goods and services in an effort to make a profit, which is their incentive for doing business. The students also see how social responsibility affects businesses, and they learn the role of government in our economy. Indeed, JA Enterprise in Action is about how businesses interact with individuals (households) and government in a circular flow of money, goods, services, and labor that comprise the U.S. free enterprise or market system.
The International Marketplace helps students appreciate how they are connected, through trade, to people and cultures throughout the world. The activities reinforce economic concepts taught in world history and geography courses. The program begins with a focus on the resources of selected countries and how they impact cultures, governments, and economic systems. The focus then turns to the benefits of international trade and important international economic issues.
Banks in Action
Through hands-on classroom activities and local, regional, and national competitions, JA Banks in Action teaches high school students the principles of the banking industry and introduces them to the challenges of successfully operating a bank in a competitive environment. A truly international program, JA Banks in Action not only educates young people around the world about the banking industry, but also encourages them to become better citizens and smarter consumers.
JA Go Figure
JA GO Figure connects consultants from businesses and technology companies with middle and high school mathematics classes. Students experience how mathematics can be used in their future careers and personal business transactions, with a focus on free enterprise concepts and local employment opportunities. Activities presented here reinforce and expand upon the concepts and skills presented in a teacher´s regular mathematics program.
FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge
The FedEx /Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (ITC) is a competition organized by Junior Achievement, and sponsored by FedEx Express. The ITC is aimed at nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit and business skills of students. At the Challenge, students will work in teams of two to create international entry strategy plans for given products or services to a target market. Students attending senior high school or equivalent* are welcomed to join the national workshop(s) and competition, where the three (3) most outstanding teams will be selected to enter the regional final at an Asia Pacific location.
Company Program - Middle
In the Company Program - Middle, students put in practice what they learnt in a classroom situation by starting and running mini -enterprises within the school. They do active and responsible work through their own JA Student Company. This practical and encouraging program helps young people learn skills needed in school and working life.
Insure Your Success
The Insure Your Success (IYS) programme helps young people aged 12 – 18 years understand the risks associated with certain financial choices. Through different hands-on activities, interactive tools and discussions led by local AXA volunteers students learn how to budget, plan and save, but also how to antici-pate the financial consequences of risks they will face during their lives.
JA Careers with a Purpose
Through hands-on classroom activities JA Careers with a Purpose introduces students to the importance of seeking careers that help them realize their life potential and noble purpose. The program demonstrates the importance of positive values, life maxims, and ethical decision-making within the context of career and life decisions.
Following participation in the program, students will be able to:
- Use ethical decision-making skills to make career and life decisions.
- Describe possible career choices in terms of their individual noble purpose.
INJAZ Community Citizenship introduces students to an understanding of what is involved in setting up and running a social entrepreneurship project and an understanding of the skills, attitudes, planning, and behaviors of social entrepreneurs. The program requires students to set up their own social projects within their community to get students to see that positive communal impacts and economic growth are both obtainable for companies who abide by social responsibility norms.
Green Entrepreneurship (GREENT)
Green Entrepreneurship (GREENT) is a collection of educational tools that support teachers in fostering a “sustainability-conscious entrepreneurial mindset” in their high school students through the usage of blended learning resources. The program contains 36 lessons in a manual that teachers can use in order to prepare the delivery of each lesson. The materials have been developed as part of an EU Erasmus+ project in collaboration between JA Bulgaria, JA Greece, JA Latvia, JA Norway (Sogn og Fjordane), and JA Romania. A key innovation is the participation of teams of teachers in each country who also participated in the creation of the lessons.
