Interview and Employability Skills Masterclass

The Interview & Employability Masterclass aims to give students practical experience so that they can develop interview techniques and feel prepared for the real thing.  This could be to secure a place at 6th form college, university or a first interview with a potential employer.

Objectives:

  • CV - Support students in creating a competitive CV (resume) that sets them apart in the jobs market.
  • Practice and develop interview techniques
  • Help students identify their own perosnal attributes and skills


Start Academy

Start Academy (SA) is a business plan contest for students at university level.


BizWorld

BizWorld is an interdisciplinary business game, where students run their own (fictional) company during four project days. Students experience the basics of business, entrepreneurship and economics. During this project, students practice and improve their language and mathematic proficiency and develop additionally valuable skills that belong to the 21st century skills.


Smart Start

SMART START program aims to support students with high potential projects to start their own businesses. Having previously completed the main program of INJAZ, Company Program, a training program for the creation and management business, students will take a step back and think carefully and methodically on their idea and work on how to make their project viable and sustainable. SMART START program  is immersed in a process of long-term thinking on their choice of product or service, niche scalability, etc.

Project promoters grouped into junior companies are encouraged to discuss with their mentors how their business can really take shape in the real world. They will discuss issues related to scalability, market penetration and growth.

Through personalized support "professionals to professionals" youth build a comprehensive business plan, they will market their project and develop the skills needed to become seasoned entrepreneurs.


Steer Your Career High School Kuwait

Steer Your Career targets university students, in their third or fourth year, aiming at honing the skills needed to eventually find a job and operate effectively in a competitive job environment.  The different sessions cover aspects of leadership, time management, communication, team dynamics, and job search skills.   Through hands-on classroom activities, personal assessments, role playing, and reflection exercises, Steer Your Career helps students function successfully in today’s workplace.

JA Play Lab

Play is vital for the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of every child. It enables children to engage and interact in the world around them at an early age. JA Play Lab allows children to use their creativity while developing their cognitive and emotional strength.

OutBound IPC

All students attended a purpose built Out Bound facility and were asked to participate in activities which were out of the ordinary. During this full day engagement special support staff were mobilized to assist students as each individual set about completing tasks designed to create an improved self confidence.


JA Business Skills Pass Program

The JA Business Skills Pass Program (BSP) is specifically designed to supplement student’s learning in the key business subjects under the Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) track. Its well-researched components is created and patterned on some 21st century skills requirements, following international standards, and more importantly to prepare the JA/DepEd Business Simulation program. Designed with specific needs of upper grade students in mind, BSP provides useful and practical content to equip students in their transition to becoming productive and contributing members of the society. This will also provide them with the necessary skills to create and manage an enterprise and prepare them for tertiary education in business.
 


Excellence through Ethics - Korea High

Junior Achievement’s Excellence through Ethics offers students learning opportunities to share knowledge and information regarding ethics in business. JA strives to show students how business works, and to better evaluate organizations that conduct their operations in the right way.

Excellence through Ethics is designed to equip volunteers and teachers with supplemental, ethics-based activities for use with JA in-class programs for grades four through twelve. All these activities provide students with current and essential information about business ethics.
These activities are designed to reinforce students’ knowledge and skills, teach them how to make ethical decisions, assist them in learning to think critically, and help them to be better problem-solvers. All the activities are hands-on, interactive, and group-focused to present the material to students with the best instructional methods.

JA Ethics and Business

JA Ethics and Business program is one year long program focused on help students understand their ethical decision making not only in the entrepreneurial area. That way young people learn to apply ethical approach in everyday life and later in the world of work as well.

Community Citizenship

Community Citizenship familiarizes students with how to set up and run a social entrepreneurship project, and understand the skills, attitudes, planning and behaviors of social entrepreneurs. This workshop aims to cultivate the following:
- Creative thinking and problem solving within their community, alongside communication and presentation skills.
- Teamwork and leadership whilst building confidence and a can-do attitude.
- Negotiations, decision making, managing risks, and responding to change.
- Set up their own social project within their community.
- A sense of ownership and social responsibility within students.
Student Attendance: Approximately 60-100 students per workshop

Entrepreneurship Master Class (EMC) High Pakistan

By developing the essential components of a business plan, the Entrepreneurship Master Class challenges students to start an entrepreneurial venture while still in high school.

Following participation in the program, students will be able to:

 

  • Recognize characteristics and practices of successful entrepreneurs.
  • Start thinking about their business goals and assess them from different perspectives.
  • Demonstrate business-planning skills for an online venture start-up, financing, management, and long-term goals.
  • Develop their interpersonal as well as problem-solving skills and learn to work under very tight deadlines

 

Session Summary

 

This exciting one-day (4-5 hour) workshop introduces 45-50 high school/college students to the concept of self-employment as well as an understanding of the skills, attitudes and behaviors of entrepreneurs, all of which are involved in setting up and running a business. Meant to expand their horizons and direct their thinking towards the future in a fun way. This workshop aims to cultivate the following:
- Creative thinking and problem solving alongside communication and presentation skills;
- Teamwork and leadership whilst building confidence and a can-do attitude;
- Negotiations, decision making, managing risks, and adapting to change.

 

Session Activities

Activity 1: How Much of an Entrepreneur are you?

Students are introduced to the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs and assess themselves in light of the same, so as to build their knowledge of the business world. 

Activity 2: Start Thinking

Students take on the roles of young entrepreneurs as they identify various issues within their localities and develop ‘business solutions’ to overcome each problem.

Activity 3: You as a Business/You as a Customer

Student groups first identify key characteristics of a successful business idea and then place themselves in a customer’s shoes to understand how their business goals affect their image as portrayed by their customers.

Activity 4: The Business Plan

Students apply the knowledge gained to their product or services and complete a sample business plan, which is to be presented within 2.5 minutes bearing in mind all key aspects of a start-up business venture.


Ripples of Happiness-UAE

Ripples of Happiness is an educational program that is jointly developed by the Coca-Cola Foundation and INJAZ Al-Arab with primary emphasis on social responsibility, entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy, and workplace readiness. Students learn fundamental business and economic concepts, explore career interests and opportunities, and learn important principles of work readiness. During visits to classrooms, volunteers serve as role models. Through a variety of experiential activities, students better understand the relationship between what they learn in school/university and their successful participation in a global economy and community. The program is implemented across selected universities throughout the region with the support of INJAZ Al-Arab.

Inclusive Workplace

The program is an extended activity to the Company program where the teacher invites a local representative from NHO to hold a lecture for the students about roles and regulations i real work life. NHO is the main representative organization for Norwegian employers with companies ranging from small family-owned businesses to multi-national companies.

After the lecture, they discuss how this can be implemented in their mini company. Finely the students wright an agreement that all the students in the company signs.

Aflatoun

 Aflatoun is a worldwide movement which could not be created without curriculum adaptation, without generous support and dedication of JAA team, teachers, children, parents, trainers, ministry, donors, partners, volunteers, board members, , family and friends – everyone who has helped bring Aflatoun to children in Armenia.
The Aflatoun Secretariat provided a curriculum and training, and JA Armenia adapted the curriculum, find the resources to deliver and implement the programme in schools.

Professional and Business Development of Regional Youth

Professional and Business Development of Regional Youth provided its participants the opportunity to develop their professional skills and economic and entrepreneurial skills in order to gain success in the careers. It aims to obtain skills and knowledge which are necessary in running a private business affair.  The project is composed of  two main components: 1. Business training and 2. Student business day. 

Stage 1: Business Training

  • Training phase: Students are trained on financial literacy, success skills and company program.
  • Initiate a Business Plan: Students review the company's business strategies and create business, product, financial and marketing plans. They will learn to develop their leadership skills, write and implement business plans, and create sales goals for their products.

Stage 2: "Student Business Day"

  • Trade Fair Stand - Students get to present their product/ service to the panel of judge and the public.
  • Business Plan Presentation - The business plan presentation summaries the key experiences and achievements of the students' company.
